It’s ok

I wrote most of this while sitting at a cafe called “It’s ok”. I was having a down day and needed to go outside, but since it was storming, I went to this cafe. It has chalkboard walls with quotes written on them like “Shit happens, but it’s ok.” and “Having a bad day? It’s ok.” So I couldn’t have chosen a better place. I felt inspired by this cozy place with a cat sleeping next to me and a coffee flavoured chocolate chia thingy, and started writing in my notebook. I always used to bottle up my feelings. I thought feelings were lame and something I should not bother other people with. They only excisted inside my head. This resulted in me being unable to put into words what I felt. Sometimes the words ‘happy’, ‘sad’ or ‘angry’ felt very empty to me. The past few months I have learned to talk about my feelings more. My last year…

Movie// Sierra Burgess is a loser and so is this movie

When ‘Sierra Burgess is a loser’ came available on Netflix I was really excited. I really liked Shannon Purser as Barb in ‘Stranger Things’ and I LOVEEEE Noah Centineo since ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’. So at least two great actors playing in this movie; it had to be good, right? From the beginning on it’s clear Sierra is the “ugly” nerdy type that is being bullied and has just one friend. What. Maybe that’s just my high school experience, but being nerdy is a great way to bond with others. Also what is it with nerds and unflattery looks? And of course there is also a group of “mean girls”. And of course they are super pretty and dumb. I don’t understand this trope and I hate it. But okay, I kept watching. And I got annoyed by Sierra’s nerdiness. It felt overdone. Sigh. So the plot is basically that Sierra gets a text from Jamey who…

Review// Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake (Three Dark Crowns #1)

When kingdom come, there will be one. In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born—three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions. But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown. This review contains no spoilers. This book was bought with my own money. I didn’t like the first half of this…

Istanbul #2// I was feeling home sick, so the weather gods made it rain so it …

Ah, I love long titles for blog posts. Second week in Istanbul is almost over, so it’s time for an update. This has been a week full of ups and downs, and to be honest, I’m still not really used to this kind of life. Last week I had a lot of castings (which are kind of like auditions) and this week I had some fittings (fitting on clothes; to see if the clothes fit and if everything looks good). Fittings take even longer than castings here. Putting the clothes on doesn’t take that long, but waiting for the fitting to start, for everyone else to get done and for the driver do. One fitting even took 4+ hours. Luckily there was a Starbucks close by so I could eat and drink something. (I don’t recommend the cheesecake frappuccino, it’s suuuuuper sweet.) It keeps surprising me how tiring all of this is. In theory I don’t have to do much.…

Istanbul #1// Oatmeal, apple pear and an amazing view

My first week in Istanbul is almost coming to an end, so it’s time for an update. The first few days were very hard for me. After one day of travelling, I was really tired, but I immediately had five castings, and the day after even more. Because of my busy schedule, I didn’t have time to to walk around town in search of the Carrefour, so I was very hungry; I don’t recommend living off crackers and banana’s… The mosquito’s here also really like me, so I got over 20 bites. I had never been to a casting before, so I had no idea what to expect. When I got sent away casting after casting without a positive response, it felt really discouraging. I felt really sick and was wondering why I was doing this. I asked one of the girls who has a really nice walk to give me some tips and we practiced on the rooftop terrace.…

I’m going on an adventure

Today is August 27 and I’m quite nervous. Why you may ask. Well, as a Hobbit once said: I’m going on an adventure! I always thought I was going to study at university once I graduated high school. For quite a long time I had no idea what I wanted to study, but I was excited anyway. But then I got scouted, started doing photoshoots and really really really liked that. And I was told I could go to Istanbul for a few weeks to work there. So while everyone is going (back) to school/university, I’m going to do something I only could’ve dreamed of a few years ago. And I feel like I am going to learn more than I could ever learn from school books. When I was debating whether taking a gap year would be a good idea or not, many people told me this would be an amazing opportunity and I’d grow a lot as a…

I’m blogging again

As you could probably already tell, I made a blog. I’m blogging again! Those who have been following me online for a while know that I had a blog before. It was a blog with almost a hundred blog posts about books and I mainly wrote reviews on there, but because of personal reasons I took it offline. It’s been a while since I last wrote a blog post, and I began to miss it. So that’s why I decided to start blogging again. This time I won’t blog solely about books. I found it quite difficult to be original and to blog often when I could only blog about books. So I don’t want to be restricted by my blog’s theme anymore and I also want this blog to be more personal. That’s why the tagline of this blog is ‘a blog about my life and interests’. But, since at least a vague idea of this blog’s future content…
