Before I officially start this blog post; do you call this stuff ‘swag’? I have zero idea. The word kind of sounds weird to me in this context, but I believe I have seen it multiple times, so… Or maybe goodies? Google isn’t helping me, ahhhh. (Just when I thought my English was on quite a level, this happens, haha.)
On November 3 I posted a picture of Everless on my Bookstagram and Sara Holland commented on it. She was happy I liked Everless and she brought to my attention there was a pre-order campaign for Evermore. I clicked on the link in her bio and was like ‘I need this!’. The thing was, I had the Dutch edition of Everless and I wanted Evermore to match. So I tagged the Dutch publisher Blossom Books, mentioning I’d love them to organize a pre-order campaign as well. And they did! (No idea if it was because of me, haha.) I got an envelope full of swag/goodies/stuff in the mail today and I wanted to share it with you all.
To get rid of any confusion: the pre-order campaign hosted by Blossom Books was different than the one by Sara Holland.
The first thing I pulled out of the envelope was this handwritten letter by Sara Holland. I really appreciate it when authors try to connect with readers in a personal way, so it was fun reading this letter. I love the doodles too, haha.
The letter reads:
Dear wonderful reader,
Happy 2019!!! I don’t know about you, but I’m excited for the new year. As long as it’s filled with books and stories, I’ll be happy! And what better way to celebrate another trip around the (sun) than with a book all about time, love, and fate? Writing EVERLESS an EVERMORE has been a wild journey, and I hope, at the end of these pages, you’ll love Jules and Caro as much as I do.
Thank you so much for reading. I hope 2019 brings you everything you’ve dreamed of and more!
Next was a signed bookplate. I’m very happy I now have Sara Holland’s signature.
And last but not least I got five character cards of Jules, Caro, Liam, Ina, and Roan. The illustrations are made by Diana Sousa. I love the colour scheme of these cards!
Look at all those details! Woah! The pictures honestly don’t do them justice. You can vaguely see it, the background has the same texture as Evermore has.
Many thanks to Blossom Books for hosting this pre-order campaign. I love everything!
Let me know if you participate in pre-order campaigns! Do you like it when authors/publishers do a bit more for readers?
