I’m back to blogging, but not like I used to

Hi! As you might have noticed (or not lol), I have not posted a blog post in a very long time. Actually, it has been a year since I last actively blogged. And that is because I took a break from blogging. My break wasn’t intentionally really, but I let it happen and I just didn’t pick blogging up again. It wasn’t until I decided to write this post that I realised how much I missed writing. It made me think about my blog and what I want to do with it. Here’s why I have been absent for such a long time, and what my plans for this blog are. Before I hopped on the plane to South Korea back in March 2019, I had quite a few blog posts planned and it was also my intention to write weekly recaps. But… that just went all overboard once I realised I really wanted to enjoy my trip as much…

What it’s like to live in South Korea during the Corona outbreak as a …

I have decided to write about what it’s like to live in South Korea during the Corona outbreak as a foreigner. Obviously this is my experience, not what everyone else here might experience. But I read so much negativity and some stories that are outright not true about South Korea, that I felt the need to share my story. I have lived in South Korea for more than half a year. I work here as a model and I study Korean at a university. When the first few cases of the Corona virus appeared in South Korea, there was immediate action as a means to prevent both panic and spreading of the virus. The message to wash your hands thoroughly, wear a mask, and to cough in your elbow were to read and hear everywhere, and still are. They also shared a special phone number you can call in case you show any symptoms. In subway stations you can hear…

I moved to Seoul, South Korea

Hi everyone! I have some very exciting news to share. If you’re reading this blog post, it means I have moved to Seoul, South Korea! I have been absent on my blog for a while now, and I will write about that and my future plans with my blog very soon. But this post is about this life changing decision I made. In March 2019 I went to South Korea for the very first time for modeling. I lived and worked there for 2 months, which was an amazing time. I fell in love with the food, the people, the city… and my manager. And now I’m back in Seoul, working as a model, and soon studying here as well. I just got my Alien Registration Card (ARC), which makes it feel 100% official. You might be thinking “Soph, did you really move to the other side of the world for a guy?”, and my answer is yes and no.…

Thank you for your support

I want to start this blog post by saying that I am not interested in sharing details about what happened publicly and if you’re here for drama you can leave now. On Wednesday (yes it has been this many days) something happened. Read THIS blog post if you have no idea what I’m talking about. After what happened, many people have messaged me to ask if I am okay and I got many compliments as well. And I wanted to thank you all for that. It means a lot to me that strangers were reaching out to me and making sure I didn’t feel discouraged. I will remember this. I took a little break from blogging and reading other blogs, and posting and liking on Instagram as well. I am okay, but it was a very bizarre situation to be in and something I hope to not experience again. It is good to know that if something like that ever…

Level 20

Twenty years ago on this day, I was born. Or, to put it in a modern way, I have levelled up to level 20, haha. My teenager years are now over and that means today is kind of the start of a new chapter in my life. (I do not feel like I’m 20 years old, by the way. Hahahahaha, me? 20? lol) I wish everyone would receive an overview of their life up until that point on their birthday. I would love to see how many books in total I have read, how many words I have written, what my most used words are, and I’d also like to know in how many tourists their pictures I accidentally am. That would be funny, I am sure the numbers would surprise me. It feels like last year went by pretty fast, like I have been 19 for only a few months, not a whole year. I decided to look back…

My reading, blogging and writing goals for 2019

December 31 is the time to set goals. I always set goals and then I forget about them once January is over, haha. By writing my goals down and sharing them on my blog, I hope it’ll be harder to give up on them. Feel free to call me out if I’m miserably failing throughout the year to accomplish these goals. Hopefully at the end of 2019 I can look back proudly. (Also please appreciate this picture I took, because I slightly burned my foot because one of the sparks fell on it and there’s now a small hole in my floor. Don’t try this at home y’all. Whaha. At least I didn’t set my bookshelf on fire.) Reading goals At the end of every year I set a reading goal for the upcoming year and this time is no different. What is different, is that I am going to be taking my reading goal a lot more seriously. I…

Soph is blogging 2.0

Hello and welcome to Soph is blogging 2.0! It has been quiet on my blog for a while because a lot has been going on behind the scenes the past few days. And I can finally show it to you all. I now have my own domain and a new theme that totally fits my blog! I decided to invest in my blog because I wasn’t a 100% content with my blog’s look and because I wanted to be able to customize my blog more. And Blogger just didn’t let me do what I wanted with my blog, and that frustrated me a lot. Blogger sometimes ruined the quality of my pictures and the editor could be really annoying to work with, especially when I added pictures. At first I was hesitant to spend money on my blog. But especially when I’m abroad, blogging is a great way to stay connected and to clear my mind. I enjoy sharing my…

Istanbul// Crazy cat lady town

During my stay in Istanbul I’ve seen and photographed many cats. There are thousands of them in Istanbul; you can’t walk down a street without seeing at least one cat. And since I took so many cat pictures, I wanted to share them here. A Lena (my cat) lookalike. This cat wandered around close to my apartment and when I had lunch at the restaurant downstairs, she meowed loudly at me and tried to jump on my lap. The cat that slept on the steps of the first apartment I stayed at almost every day . She followed me down the street a several times, especially when I brought home groceries. A kitten that was accompanying us while we were at a casting. This little guy just walked inside the building and nobody really cared, because he’s so cute. A cat that was down for some belly rubs while we waited for the driver. A cat full of cats!!!!!!! Just…

It’s ok

I wrote most of this while sitting at a cafe called “It’s ok”. I was having a down day and needed to go outside, but since it was storming, I went to this cafe. It has chalkboard walls with quotes written on them like “Shit happens, but it’s ok.” and “Having a bad day? It’s ok.” So I couldn’t have chosen a better place. I felt inspired by this cozy place with a cat sleeping next to me and a coffee flavoured chocolate chia thingy, and started writing in my notebook. I always used to bottle up my feelings. I thought feelings were lame and something I should not bother other people with. They only excisted inside my head. This resulted in me being unable to put into words what I felt. Sometimes the words ‘happy’, ‘sad’ or ‘angry’ felt very empty to me. The past few months I have learned to talk about my feelings more. My last year…
